Kurtas and Suits

A line silhouettes and Anarkali Kurtas are the styles that should be added to your wardrobe as it skims out the midsection beautifully. Empire waist and Straight cut Kurtas can also be worn.

Avoid Short and Tight Kurtas as it can increase size of the waist and could look disproportionate.

Sarees

Dark and solid colors on lightweight fabrics are suited for this body type. Fabrics like Chiffon, Georgette and Satin would look good and define your shape. Vertical prints elongate the structure.

Avoid heavy embroidery or embellishment around your midsection.

Lehengas

High waisted and A-line Lehengas are perfect for this body type. An hourglass effect is created when flared styles are opted which balances out the midriff. Long Choli and lighter fabrics look good as the tummy is covered.

Avoid the fish cut or mermaid styles and drapes which have heavy detailing on the waistline.

Blouses

V-neck and boat neck blouses are the saviours for this body type as the neckline is elongated and the attention is drawn towards the neck. 3/4th sleeves and full sleeves should be opted for.

High Neck blouses and sleeveless blouses should be avoided if you have heavy shoulders.

Dupatta Draping

A diagonal drape and one shoulder drape covers the stomach area to create a structure and hide the imperfections.

Tightly draped Dupatta and taking it on the neck should be avoided.

Bottoms

Flared and A-line Skirts create a flattering shape. Bottoms like straight pants, shararas or palazzo must be chosen.

Don’t go for leggings or tight churidar as it can create a disproportionate look. 

Colors and Prints

Monochrome and darker shades with vertical prints are the best suited. Smaller prints and motifs look elegant and balanced.

Bigger motifs and large prints should be avoided to keep the problem areas in check.
